Christmas Gift Etiquette for Your Coworkers

Christmas gift ideas for coworkers are sometimes difficult to come by unless you know the person extremely well. There are so many decisions to be made: to give or not to give? How much should you spend? Do you have to give everyone a gift? Should you give your boss a gift?

Secret Santa To The Rescue

It seems like the perfect solution might be to draw names and have those who want to participate join in a Secret Santa Christmas. A price limit both high and low should be set for the gifts and the givers remain anonymous. If you are good friends with a coworker or two outside of work then that’s exactly where you should give them a personal gift if you are exchanging—outside of work. For the boss, a gift basket is always a nice touch and you can make it yourself or simply order one online to be delivered to their home or office. Whatever it is that you give your boss, it should be kept between you and them—no bragging to the other employees. There is also the possibility of purchasing a group gift for your boss from the entire staff or just the willing participants.

Clients and Business Associates

This is where the gift baskets come in handy again. Business associates and clients, outstanding and exceptional workers, anyone that you feel needs to know that they are appreciated will love a business themed gift basket. Online gift basket companies have special gift baskets for business purposes. These are easy to find through an online search engine and you can view the basket as well as get a description of it on their websites. Once again you can hand deliver them or have them delivered to the person at their home or office.

Christmas is a time for giving. Just make sure that the people with whom you exchange are completely on board with the whole Secret Santa thing before hand. And don’t forget that not everyone celebrates Christmas as a religious holiday. There are those that celebrate Hanukkah, Kwanza or maybe even nothing at all.
